Service Project

These two little boys, from South Korea, aren't part of the service project, but they are so dang cute, that I wanted to share.

Our Zone was asked to clear out this mess that was causing flooding, upstream.

Elder Jipus (Philippines) is actually smiling.

I don't know what kind of critters lurk in this water, but they said there were no leeches or piranhas. Whew! Good to know!

However, they did say there were cane spiders, cockroaches and "other beasts". I think they were just so excited to get in any water that they were willing to face the "pond scum". They got the job done and water is once again, flowing freely.

These are some of our sweet Visitor Center Sisters.

Not so sweet smelling this day!

They all survived.

Not sure about their socks and shoes, though.

Muddy, Aloha
Sewing Lessons and Pumpkin Carving

The missionaries are nuts about making "Aloha" ties. It is a mission wide phenomenon. Some have figured out a way to sew them by hand and they actually look quite nice. Some get wind that we have a sewing machine and our rare, quiet, p-days are over! Elder Cameron is the master tie teacher.

The Sisters arrive, first.

Sister Nunez (Philippines)

Sister Lee (China) has never used an iron or sewing machine. She pushes the machine pedal all the way to the floor and leaves the hot iron on the ironing board pad and tries to burn up our pad. We mock her until she starts to play the piano. She's a master and all is forgiven.

Sisters Lee and Yi (Korea)

Elder Roberts (Utah)

They made them for the entire Zone. I told you they were nuts!

I think he's the only missionary that didn't want to sew, so he found  something else to do. Laie Temple by Elder Cronin (Utah).

Just 10 seconds of one day.

October 16, 2016
This is the day I turned sixty.

It was a beautiful day. Perfect!

Birthday card from my companion. Perfect.

Ayesha, our YSA Relief Society President. Her betrothed and I share a birthday. She is as kind as she is pretty!

Our family branch had a "Hugs for Heidi" birthday party for me. There was leftover cake from a reception the night before, The bride and groom ate one slice. It was donated to the party. Perfect!

Noah, on the left, is playing happy birthday, on his ukulele, as our friends sing and my candles burn. Perfect!

David, world renowned surfer, wanderlust and Branch Mission leader. What a kind man.

I just love how everyone leaves their shoes right in the doorway.

Miya and Belle. There were kids everywhere. Perfect!

My companion, with frosting on his nose. He was a good sport. Perfect!

Summer of 2006. Ten years have gone by.

                     October 2016. Perfect!

Come, Listen to a Prophet's Voice

Watching conference with Elder Egbert (Utah). I can't believe he was cold. I don't get it!

Elder Beal (Utah). No blanket. Normal!

Conference is broadcast at 6 a.m. on the Islands. Saturday morning, we cooked breakfast for our YSA kids and watched it together, at the theater on BYUH campus. Sunday morning, we slept right through it and watched it when we were really awake. Yay for technology! Yay for Conference!

Sanding many pineapples for upcoming wedding reception.

Leeward side of Oahu. Beautiful.

We "caught' some bug and have been less than perky the past month. Many people have had it, so everyone's been dragging. Hopefully, the trade winds will blow it out to sea.

Aloha
